Obituary and Condolences

HICKMAN, June Margaret (nee Duncan)
of Osoyoos, BC
March 11, 1934 - June 11, 2022
At 88 years of age June had a fall in her home. She later died from her injuries
at South Okanagan General Hospital (Oliver, BC) with family by her side. June
was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Kearney, second husband, Jack Hickman
and granddaughter, Brianne van Dyk.
Her favourite accomplishment was being a mother to her daughters, Audrey
Kearney-Sedawie (Gordon), of Osoyoos, BC, Janice Kearney of Calgary, AB and a
grandma to her granddaughters Angela van Dyk of Qualicum Beach, BC and Michelle
Braun of Calgary, AB. June resided in Port Alberni, BC and Kingston, ON and was
very civic minded. She was a Red Cross Swimming Instructor and Examiner,
Co-ordinator of many Blood Donor Clinics, Girl Guide Leader, very first Ranger
leader in Port Alberni, School Board Trustee and Chairman, Volunteer for Red
Cross Emergency Services Disaster Relief, avid Lawn Bowler, member of the RCMPVA
and the Celtic Community of S. Ontario. The above only represent a few of her
achievements.
She had many adventures in her life. The most astounding of which was sailing
from Nanaimo, BC to Honolulu, HI in a 29 foot sailboat with Fred. If she wanted
to do something, she did it and well.
There are "Gatherings" being planned in Port Alberni and Kingston for the Fall
of 2022 to celebrate and remember June. Notice will be announced once details
have been finalized.
The Family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to any organization of
your choice or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.Condolences and tributes
