Brenda McClare
1951 - 2020
Spouse of Reg # 28861 Sgt. Earl McClare, Retired

OBITUARY
Brenda McClare, 69, of Thomasburg, ON passed away peacefully at home on March
4, 2020. Survived by husband Earl, and children Gillian (Nick), John, Ashley
(Matt), and Allison (John).
Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Brenda moved to Toronto following
completion of college, where she met her future husband, Earl. They married in
1974 and lived in various locations throughout southern Ontario as a result of
Earls' employment transfers. They were finally able to settle in Burlington, ON
where they raised four children. Following retirement, Brenda and Earl moved to
Thomasburg.
Brenda was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in early 2007. Although she nearly
succumbed to this cancer at that time, the combination of her inner strength and
resilience, and the skills of the oncology clinics in Belleville and Kingston,
the disease went into remission. As a result, the family was able to enjoy
treasured life together for another 12 years. During that time, Brenda was an
active and popular member of her community, volunteering at the Heart of
Hastings Hospice House for several years, and assisting at services to residents
at local nursing homes with her church.
Brenda was especially known and respected by everyone who knew her for her
kindness, integrity, and wisdom. Her children were devoted to her for those
reasons as well as the wonderful life lessons she imparted to them. The values
she taught them will remain with them forever.
In late 2018, the cancer returned. Although she fought bravely, the disease
became continuously more aggressive until the end.
The family would sincerely like to thank Dr. Charles Mustard and the staff at
the Gateway Medical Clinic in Tweed, ON, and Dr. Roger Levesque and staff at the
Belleville General Hospital, Oncology Clinic. Their efforts and support to
Brenda and her family during the past 13 years was more than the family could
have ever anticipated and for which they are eternally grateful.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 11th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cassidy
Funeral Home, Tweed, ON. A Celebration of Life will follow on Thursday, March
12th at 2:00 PM at Belleville Seventh Day Adventist Church, 253 Dundas St. W.,
Belleville, ON with Pastor Evaldo Vicente officiating. In lieu of flowers please
consider making a donation to the Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Fund at
Belleville General Hospital, Belleville, ON.
